WAKE
In 2019, I was given the opportunity to work as an Assistant Producer for my friend's Senior Thesis Film. This was one of the first real experiences I had that involved working outside of my comfort zone in terms of projects, as it was one of the first fiction productions I had ever done. My jobs included working very closely with my Director and film Producer, Pia Rizzo-Wittlin, attending casting calls, hiring the film crew, finding shooting locations, and managing the film's set. This was also one of the first experiences where I didn't feel so much as a student, but more as a filmmaker with an important role to fulfull.
Film Synopsis:
WAKE follows Cassidy, a former investigative journalist who battles severe insomnia with extreme bouts of delusion. Debilitated by her unwavering condition, she is forced to stay home with her only escape to the outside world being the round-the-clock news segments on TV. When a local serial killer is reported to be on-the-loose, Cassidy suspects it to be her husband, Cain. Using her sleuthing skills to uncover the truth, Cassidy struggles to delineate fantasy from reality. When Cassidy ultimately discovers the truth, she attempts to escape the madness. Though no matter what, Cassidy finds she's a prisoner to her own mind.
These images were photos I took for the film (if you watch it above, you can see a photo of them in a frame on Cassidy's nightstand). We needed "wedding photos" of our two characters, Cassidy and her husband, Cain, for the plot a few days before we began shooting that weekend.
